Relationship Violence Awareness Month

The last couple of weeks have been really difficult for many people, with stories of sexual assault and harassment dominating the news. In case any of you are struggling or are wondering about how to support people you care about, I want to call your attention to the important work being done under the auspices of Emory’s Office of Respect, which  provides direct support for student sexual assault survivors and any students impacted by violence and oppression.  They  have a 24/7 hotline for those in the community who may wish to make an appointment or who need resources  or a listening ear. That number is 470.270.5360.

As you may know, the Office also works to provide opportunities for continued education around prevention and bystander intervention. The Office’s programming for October, which is a national awareness month dedicated to violence prevention, includes a number of events that might be of interest to some of you.
